Legend
has it...
That in 1948,
LL Bailey of El Paso, a master carpenter, needed to get away from
the wife for a day. He drove up to Ruidoso and purchased two acres
of land and began building a log cabin.
After several
years and several days away from the wife, he found
that he had 23 log cabins. So, he decided to fund his venture by
renting them out.
Back then Ruidoso
was a 4 month vacation area. In 1963, Sierra Blanca ski resort opened,
now called Ski Apache, making Ruidoso a year round vacation destination.
Apache Village
Cabins then acclaimed as a Modern Cabin Village became
too much for LL Bailey to operate, as his wife wouldnt allow
him to be away from El Paso year round.
He decided to
sell his modern cabin village and it changed owners several times
until it fell into the hands of your current hosts Dale and Stacie.
With a lot of work and care, we are in the process of returning
Apache Village to the grandeur it once was when LL Bailey began
working on his dream.
